Ingredients:

Sauce Base:

1/2                Onion julienned (cut lengthwise)

3                   Tomatoes

1 tbsp           Oil

3-4 cloves    Garlic diced or crushed

7-10 leaves   Basil

Salt to taste

Black pepper to taste

Toppings:

Onions, Bell Peppers, Broccoli, Asparagus, Spinach - diced & salted - to taste

Cheese

Pizza base:

Your choice.

I enjoy making pizza by rolling out readymade dough from Trader Joe's.

Often I make the sauce described below but every once in a while I crush tomatoes, add a dash of habanero sauce, available vegetables & a bit of cheese, and stick it in the oven. It's ready to go in the oven even quicker.

Type:

Hot

Prep Time:

15 mins

Cooking Time:

up to 30 mins

Cuisine:

Italian

Method:

Start to pre-heat oven to bake the pizza per directions for the pizza base package.

Sauce:

  1. Warm up the pan on medium heat

  2. Add oil and heat for a minute or so until warm

  3. Add garlic and cook until fragrant (but before it becomes brown). About 30 secs or so.

  4. Add onions and sauce until translucent. About 2 - 3 mins

  5. Crush tomatoes with hand into the pan (be careful not to splash across the counter; piercing with a knife minimizes the chances of this happening)

  6. Add salt to taste. I would start with a 1/4 tsp and go from there

  7. Cook for another 5 - 7 mins until tomatoes are soft

Pizza:

  1. Prepare pizza base per directions. I use readymade pizza dough and roll it out

  2. Layer the sauce

  3. Top with vegetables

  4. Grate cheese (optional)

  5. Bake pizza per package directions

Pizza is ready!
